If you do a quick search, you’ll see there are more than a few keyword tips out there and trying to put together a good internet marketing plan can get a little confusing if you take all the advice to heart. It’s best if you read only the ones that are proven successes. Following are several you can’t do without.
Start off on the right foot. Remember the Google search bots will be looking to find out what your blog or website is about as quickly as possible. That means your initial keyword should be in the first 25 words of your text as well as the headline if possible. A note of caution here. It’s better to leave the keyword out of the headline than leave it in and have one that sounds clunky. Search Engine Optimization should take a back seat to a good first impression in this case.Size matters. To get a page properly indexed by Google, you need to have a bare minimum word count of around 300 words. That also helps when you’re trying to build inbound links since it increases the number of keywords you can link to without getting into spammy territory.Placement matters. Although there have been other opinions, most of the Internet Marketers I’ve spoken to say that one keyword per one hundred words will get the job done properly without any issues from the search engines cropping up. Remember that if your blog is about 300 words, it’s better to use one keyword three times, or twice with a secondary keyword mixed in.Variety matters. If your campaign is for a website rather than just a blog, you need to look at variety in the internal links and mixing them right away so there’s an even flow as you work through the site. If you’re trying to build a campaign with external links, make sure you’re looking at reputable and relevant sites because quality matters here over quantity.Keywords are still the best way to get the exposure you need for your business. Try to make the right decisions the first time around so you don’t need to go back after you’re in the middle of a campaign, but don’t be disappointed if you need to tweak the ones you’ve chosen, adding geographic tails or other accessories as you go along.
